Dennis Dodd from CBS Sports recently broke the news that conferences will have their football championship games deregulated by 2016, possibly benefitting teams like Michigan State.
Essentially, this means that each conference will have control over their format and rules on how each team will be selected for their respective championship games. Although the rule has been primarily supported by the Big 12 and ACC, it has the foreseeable ability to positively impact the Spartans.
No longer will two teams of opposite divisions be forced to play each other, which could avoid the boring Big Ten title game that we witnessed a year ago.
