Tom Izzo didn’t watch much of the siege of the U.S. Capitol.
“Because the little I watched made me sick,” Michigan State’s Hall of Fame basketball coach said Thursday, a day after protesters invaded the nation’s governing house. “It was a disgrace I think to all of us. And in all honesty, nothing like that should be tolerated.”
Izzo and his program have championed social justice and racial equality the past few years. The Spartans have been wearing warmup shirts with the Zulu word “Ubuntu” this season, with the translation “I am because we are” written on the back.
