Mired in a three-game losing streak to open Big Ten play, Izzo made a number of candid and self-effacing observations Thursday as the 18th-ranked Spartans prepare to visit Nebraska on Saturday. The biggest of which is that he erred in trying to make Watts the heir to the point guard position vacated by Cassius Winston.
“I think for Tom Izzo to try to make a shooter into a point guard, that's a big factor,” Izzo said in his news conference.
