Michigan State basketball's Thomas Kithier leaves ill, enters isolation as precaution

EAST LANSING — Thomas Kithier left Michigan State basketball’s 66-56 win over Nebraska on Saturday night and went immediately into COVID-19 protocol, coach Tom Izzo said.

Kithier went to the bench with 9:35 remaining in the first half and did not return to the court. He grabbed two rebounds and picked up a foul in 7 scoreless first-half minutes.

He sat on the bench after being removed and drank from a water bottle, putting his head into a towel in his hands a few times. Trainer Nick Richey walked down the MSU bench to talk to Kithier, who then left the court during the media timeout with 7:47 to play before halftime.
