Not often does Michigan State basketball land a non-grad transfer who could potentially have an immediate impact, but Tom Izzo went off his normal path and landed Joey Hauser this offseason.
The transfer wasn’t a major surprise, especially when he and his brother both announced they would be leaving Marquette to look for a new program. It became even more likely when Joey and Sam Hauser said they were open to splitting up and attending different schools.
Michigan State recruited Joey heavily out of Stevens Point, Wisc., and he developed a strong relationship with Izzo and familiarity with the program.
