EAST LANSING — Michigan State basketball's flirtation with an upset finally caught up to it Saturday.
The No. 9 Spartans were stunned by Northwestern, 64-62, at Breslin Center. Marcus Bingham Jr. had a chance to tie the game at the free throw line, but missed the front-end of a one-and-one attempt with 0.7 seconds left.
Julius Marble II scored 18 points off the bench for the Spartans (14-3, 5-1 Big Ten).
