EAST LANSING — Michigan State basketballgot Cassius Winston back in the starting lineup. The Spartans then went out and throttled Illinois to remain the only team unbeaten in Big Ten play.
Winston started hot after a one-game injury absence, and the reigning conference player of the year finished with 21 points and six assists to lead No. 16 MSU to a 76-56 victory over the Illini on Thursday night at Breslin Center.
He had plenty of help, particularly on both ends from his big men, who were challenged by coach Tom Izzo earlier this week and responded with a stifling defensive effort.
