When the schedule came out for this season, it appeared that the two Big Ten games that the Spartans would have to play prior to January were not easy but not overly difficult, by any stretch of the imagination.
Now as Michigan State gets set to play its first two Big Ten opponents, there are no guarantees of the Spartans being undefeated in Big Ten play heading into January.
Rutgers, who Michigan State opens the Big Ten season play against, is 5-1 and in their last game they went down to play Miami in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and won.
