Michigan State took care of business despite not playing its best game of the season and it took a number of punches from a scrappy Rutgers team, finishing with a 77-65 win.
The Spartans took an 11-point lead in the second half which looked to be enough for them to pull away for the win, but the Scarlet Knights fought back. They pulled within one after Tom Izzo gave Cassius Winston a rest. But Michigan State was just too much in the end, pulling away from the Scarlet Knights to win by 12.
Izzo said after the game that he was pleased with the way guys like Cassius Winston, Xavier Tillman and Aaron Henry played, but there’s still plenty of room to grow.
