Going into Champaign on Monday night had to give Tom Izzo an uneasy feeling. In fact, his Spartans had only won there three times in the past decade, including a win just last year by three points. Michigan State was the overwhelming favorite, but that didn’t mean much.
Throw records out when you hit the road in the Big Ten, especially in Champaign, because anything can happen. Fortunately for Izzo and Co., the Spartans took care of business and came away with a 13-point win, covering the spread.
They didn’t make it look easy for 40 minutes, though, as it took about 15-20 for them to really start pulling away.
