Detroit Douglass guard Pierre Brooks II (1) dribbles against Wyoming Tri-unity Christian guard Jaden Ophoff (4) and center Austin Treece (32) during the first half of MHSAA Division 4 boys state final at the Breslin Center in East Lansing, Saturday, April 10, 2021.
From the opening tip, Michigan State basketball signee Pierre Brooks looked comfortable.
The Detroit Douglass senior looked like he was made for the moment. He didn’t crumble under the bright lights at Breslin Center in the Division 4 state championship game on Saturday morning, dazzling spectators for four quarters.
After an interesting tweet surfaced from a local journalist earlier this week, stating that Brooks was undersized, looked disinterested on defense and his teammates didn’t like passing him the ball, he silenced that emphatically with a dominant performance in the state title game against Wyoming Tri-Unity.
