When outside shots aren’t falling, upsets can happen. Just ask coach Tom Izzo about Michigan State basketball’s last visit to Little Caesars Arena.
Oakland, however, was not Syracuse. And the 15th-ranked Spartans did plenty of other things well Saturday to overcome an off afternoon from Cassius Winston and Gabe Brown to coast to a 72-49 victory.
“We gotta do it other ways when shots aren’t falling,” said Winston, a Detroit native who finished 3 of 13 overall but had nine points and four assists.
