EAST LANSING — Michigan State took some time to adjust without Joshua Langford in the lineup for the first time in three seasons.
But when the Spartans’ shots started falling, they came in abundance.
No. 8 MSU went on a 21-2 run midway through the first half, making 21 of their final 30 shots before halftime to build an insurmountable lead in an 81-55 victory over Northwestern on Wednesday at Breslin Center.
Nick Ward scored all 21 of his points in the first half as the Spartans built a 20-point lead at intermission, then outraced the Wildcats the rest of the way in the resumption of Big Ten action.
