After winning the Big Ten Tournament title, Tom Izzo’s fifth, Michigan State Basketball had earned the right to be named a No. 1 seed in this year’s NCAA Tournament, but that didn’t happen as they were named the No. 2 seed in the Midwest.
That didn’t come as much of a surprise as the Spartans (29-5, 13-5) are probably Izzo’s best team since 2009’s Final Four squad or maybe even the 2000 national title team.
It’s a great time to be a Spartan as the football team won the Big Ten title and made the second annual College Football Playoff and the basketball team is considered a Final Four favorite this season.
