Everything was looking great for Michigan State, coming off a tough loss to Virginia Tech in the Maui Invitational opener with a 21-point halftime lead over Georgia. The Spartans held the Bulldogs’ superstar freshman Anthony Edwards to just four points in the first half and it looked as if they were going to run away with an easy win.
And then Edwards got hot.
Even great defense by the Spartans wasn’t enough as he put up 33 second-half points in the comeback effort, but Michigan State just had too many late answers and held on for a 93-85 win.
