A 10:50 p.m. kickoff time wasn't ideal for Michigan State fans in the Midwest, but plenty of them put some coffee on and stayed up for the Spartans' Saturday night game at Arizona State.
Arizona State's 16-13 win over the Spartans averaged a 1.6 rating, according to ESPN.
That makes it the highest-rated game in that time slot since November, 2016. The game drew double the rating that last year's game in the same timeslot did.
The ratings were high due in part to a ranked Michigan State team and Herm Edwards making his national TV debut after nine years away from coaching.
