Michigan hockey gives new meaning to 'short-handed' with powerful PK in 7-3 win over MSU

Special to Detroit Free Press

Reeling Michigan State hockey provided some much-needed spunk, but Saturday’s “Duel in the D” in front of 16,289 fans at Little Caesars Arena went once again to Michigan, 7-3.

Michigan hockey (23-7-1, 14-6 Big Ten) handed the Spartans (11-18-1, 5-15) their 10th straight loss and improved to 4-0 this season against MSU as senior center Jimmy Lambert led the way with a pair of goals.

U-M also kept the "Iron D" trophy for the fifth straight time, with MSU's only victory coming in 2016, the trophy's inaugural year.
