Tempe, Ariz. — Michigan State knew heading West to take on Arizona State would present its share of problems, but some of the same old issues were bigger than temperature or time changes.
Leading by 10 early in the fourth quarter, Michigan State couldn’t sustain a drive when it needed it most and couldn’t stop the Arizona State passing attack as the Sun Devils rallied for the 16-13 victory at Sun Devil Stadium on Saturday night.
A 28-yard field goal from Brandon Ruiz as time expired proved to be the winner for Arizona State.
Like the opener, Michigan State (1-1) had trouble consistently running the ball and couldn’t cash in while in the red zone.
