He's a criminal defendant in a high-profile sexual assault case.
But today, ex-basketball star Mateen Cleaves' lawyer went on the offense, saying his client is the "victim" in the case — not the woman who claims she was sexually assaulted by Cleaves after hooking up with him at a charity golf outing in 2015.
"This case has been ripe with sensationalism and a real lack of investigation. I feel like my client is the victim in this case — of a system that has gotten out of control," attorney Frank Manley told the Free Press on Monday.
