DJ Durkin will not be on the Maryland sideline for Saturday's game against Michigan State.
Nor will he coach another game for the Terrapins.
Durkin was fired Wednesday, one day after being reinstated to his position by the University System of Maryland Board of Regents. He had been on paid administrative leave since August due to an investigation into the death of offensive lineman Jordan McNair in June due to heatstroke stemming from a workout in May and media reports of a "toxic culture" within the program.
The decision to reinstate Durkin was widely condemned, including by some of his own players who voiced their displeasure via social media.
