Mark Dantonio signs revised contract, assistant football coaches receive raises

MSU Athletics Director Mark Hollis and MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon announced Friday the revision of head football coach Mark Dantonio’s contract, as well as salary raises for his assistant coaches, according to a Spartan Athletics press release.

Dantonio’s base salary has been raised from $2 million to $2.26 million, according to the release, and his contingent annual bonus sparked from $286,000 to $700,000. The revision also includes a one-time, $4.3 million bonus if Dantonio remains head coach through Jan. 15, 2020. The contract was and still is a six-year roll over deal.

If Dantonio retires before 2020, he will be provided with a one-year, post-coaching employment salary of $1 million.
