Mark Dantonio says Curtis Blackwell not retained due to 'philosophical change'

EAST LANSING - Curtis Blackwell spent four years heading up Michigan State football recruiting.

Although a decision was recently made to not renew his contract and an external investigation determined there was evidence that Blackwell violated the university's policy on relationship violence and sexual misconduct, Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio said the two are not related.

"It was basically a philosophical change," Dantonio said during a press conference on Tuesday afternoon at Spartan Stadium. "We evaluated everything. There was a change, we needed to be able to move forward and this decision was made.
