EAST LANSING — Mark Dantonio believes Michigan State will go into fall with a top-five defense nationally, one that returns almost intact.
Of course, that’s not what needs fixing. It’s the offense that sputtered to a bottom-10 finish in a number of categories in 2018.
The disparity the Spartans are working to overcome this spring to improve on last year’s 7-6 record is drastic. But the starkest discrepancy came in points allowed and scored.
