Many options to replace Davis; Williams not one

EAST LANSING -- The short answer is Mark Dantonio doesn't know yet.

He doesn't know what Michigan State will do to adjust for the loss of senior outside linebacker Ed Davis to a season-ending knee injury. He doesn't know whether Davis will be granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA, if that's Davis' preference after rehabbing the knee.

He does know he has some options, starting with a simple one: sophomore Chris Frey moving up from the second team to claim Davis' starting spot at the strongside "money" position.

"Chris Frey has played a lot of football for us last year, as a true freshman," Dantonio said before today's practice.
