Former Michigan State football defensive lineman Malik McDowell was sentenced to nearly three months in jail and has some extra homework to complete during that time.
McDowell, the former Southfield High star who was a top recruit for the Spartans in 2014, pleaded guilty in October to a pair of resisting arrest charges, an operating while intoxicated charge and possessing a stolen vehicle.
Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Michael Warren sentenced McDowell to 153 days in the county jail on Wednesday, but was credited for 66 days served.
