EAST LANSING — Tom Izzo briefly forgot about an important event, joking he preferred to keep a “happy wife, happy life” when he remembered after his Tuesday news conference.
It wasn’t an anniversary or a birthday the Michigan State basketball coach missed. But it is a cause both he and his wife, Lupe, hold close to their hearts.
The 14th-ranked Spartans’ game Friday against Wisconsin also is the annual food drive, an effort that has been chaired by Lupe, a Lansing-native, for a quarter century to coincide with her husband’s 25th anniversary as MSU’s head coach.
