Lansing State Journal columnist Graham Couch and Detroit Free Press beat writer Chris Solari break down MSU's win at Maryland Lansing State Journal
COLLEGE PARK, Md. — It was nothing new for Cassius Winston, but it couldn’t have come at a bigger moment for Michigan State in its biggest game of the season so far.
The senior point guard swished a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from at least 60 feet away to give the 24th-ranked Spartans an 11-point halftime lead en route to a 78-66 win at No. 8 Maryland on Saturday.
“It was an unbelievable design — a 75-foot play that we put in just last week,” MSU coach Tom Izzo joked.
