Michigan State overcame a three-and-out by pitching its own three-and-out before taking advantage of a poor punt to start at the Michigan 46.
After a questionable targeting call on Michigan linebacker Joe Bolden gave MSU a first down at the U-M 24. Two plays later, LJ Scott scored on an 11-yard run to tie the game at 7 with 7:06 left in the second quarter.
It was the first touchdown Michigan has allowed since the fourth quarter of the UNLV game.
