A.J. Hoggard, playing with three fouls, hit two free throws with just more than six minutes left to tie the game, 65-65. Hoggard would get his fourth personal a few seconds later, with 5:43 remaining and went to the bench.
Michigan State regained the lead with 5:24 left on a 3-pointer by Tyson Walker. Marcus Bingham added two free throws to give MSU a 70-65 lead.
The Blue Devils, though, hit back-to-back baskets to pull within a point.
