Griffin Oakes, who missed from 50 and 40 yards earlier in the game, made a 20-yard field goal in overtime to help Indiana beat Michigan State, 24-21, in overtime.
Oakes missed a 33-yard field goal attempt wide left, but a leaping penalty on Michigan State gave Indiana a first down inside the MSU 10-yard line.
Tyler O'Connor was 21-of-35 for 263 yards and three touchdowns for the Spartans (2-2, 0-2 Big Ten). Gerald Holmes rushed nine times for 51 yards, while R.J. Shelton had seven catches for 141 yards and a touchdown.
For the Hoosiers (3-1, 1-0), Richard Lagow was 16-of-26 for 276 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
