EAST LANSING - Mitchell Lewandowski was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and was one of three Spartans to receive All-Big Ten honors, the conference office announced on Tuesday, March 13. Sophomore Taro Hirose was voted to the All-Big Ten Second Team, while Lewandowski and senior Carson Gatt earned honorable mention all-conference. Additionally, Lewandowski was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team and was the only unanimous selection on any of the all-conference teams.
“To be able to come in as a freshman and score 19 goals in today’s college game is really impressive,” MSU head coach Danton Cole said of Lewandowski.
