EAST LANSING - When Khari Willis arrived at Michigan State in 2015, he joined a veteran team that won 24 games the previous two seasons combined.
Despite making the switch from a dominant running back in high school to a newcomer at safety in college, the Jackson Lumen Christi product adapted quickly and played nine games as a true freshman, including three starts. Willis was primarily a backup again last season, but considers it a missed opportunity for him to make a bigger impact.
"I felt last year could have been my year if I would have made it my year," he said.
