After a stint in jail and two years away from the game, Keith Appling is back in pro basketball.
The former Michigan State guard has signed with Caneros Del Este in the Dominican League, the team announced this week.
He made his debut with the team on Thursday, scoring five points in 14 minutes.
Appling, a Detroit native and former Pershing star, finished his Michigan State career in 2014 as an All-Big Ten guard. He then played two professional seasons, primarily in the NBA's D-League. Early in 2016, he signed two 10-day contracts with the Orlando Magic and played five games with the team.
