EAST LANSING - Junior forward Joe Cox was named the Big Ten’s Third Star of the Week it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Cox scored two goals in a 3-2 overtime win over fifth-ranked Michigan on Feb. 5 at Joe Louis Arena.
Cox’s first goal came on a penalty shot in the second period to give MSU a 1-0 lead. Cox tied the game with 6:10 to play in the third period.
It is Cox’s second career Big Ten weekly honor.
The Spartans host No. 16 Penn State this weekend at Munn Ice Arena.
