Rick Jackson told his son he should have taken up golf.
Fortunately for Michigan State, redshirt freshman safety Jalen Watts-Jackson never heeded his father's advice and was the hero for the Spartans in their 27-23 victory over Michigan on Saturday.
Watts-Jackson grabbed a fumbled punt on the final play of the game and raced 38 yards for the winning score, dislocating his hip in the process of taking his place in Michigan State history.
By Saturday night, Watts-Jackson was at the University of Michigan hospital and underwent surgery on Sunday. He headed back to East Lansing on Monday, relieved his injury won't end his career.
