East Lansing — Tom Izzo expected to see better effort from Michigan State in its matchup with Iowa on Thursday.
The teams had met a little more than two weeks earlier and the Hawkeyes took it to the Spartans, handing Michigan State its only loss of the season. The Spartans were without Denzel Valentine, but the Hawkeyes were the aggressor and never allowed the Spartans off the mat.
That, Izzo said, wouldn’t happen again.
Until Thursday night, that is, when No. 16 Iowa handed No. 4 Michigan State one of its worst home losses in recent memory, rolling to a 76-59 victory at Breslin Center.
