Although neither Michigan basketball nor Michigan State basketball made the NCAA tournament's Final Four, both will be represented in Houston this weekend.
Incoming freshmen George Washington III, who's headed to Ann Arbor, and Coen Carr, who's headed to East Lansing, will both compete in the Rocket Mortgage High School Slam Dunk Championship at 7 p.m. Friday at the Bayou Music Center in downtown Houston.
The other participants are Myles Colvin (Purdue) and Kaden Cooper (Oklahoma). CBS will air the event on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
Washington, a senior from Chaminade Julienne in Dayton, Ohio, was named Ohio's Gatorade Player of the Year earlier this month — the first player to win the award and commit to U-M since Zavier Simpson (2015-16).
