In the polls: MSU 14th, Michigan 15th

It's the College Football Playoff rankings that count now, and the second installment of those will be released Tuesday.

But in the traditional polls released Sunday, Michigan State paid for its 39-38 loss at Nebraska with a drop of eight spots in both the Associated Press and Amway Coaches polls.

The Spartans (8-1, 4-1 Big Ten) are No. 14 in both polls, the team's first time outside the top 10 this season and lowest ranking since late in the 2013 season. MSU was never lower than No. 12 in the AP poll in 2014.

Michigan, meanwhile, is just one spot behind MSU in both polls at No.
