INDIANAPOLIS — It took a while, but the Big Ten made the right call Wednesday. The league won’t allow fans to attend its conference tournament starting Thursday.

The decision came a few hours after the NCAA decided to limit its tournament games that begin next week to student-athletes, coaches, staff, limited family members, arena workers, broadcasters and, possibly, media.

When Michigan basketball tips off Thursday at noon against Rutgers — in a mostly barren Bankers Life Fieldhouse — it will feel, look and sound surreal.
