NEW YORK – Trenton Gillison scooped the ball off the Yankee Stadium grass, playing the tricky hop as it tried to bounce away from him.
It was a moment he always dreamed of, making an impact on a major league field. Only Gillison wasn’t wearing a baseball glove or dealing with a grounder, he was bare-handed snagging a kickoff.
The redshirt freshman, who eschewed playing baseball at Michigan State during the spring to prepare for a bigger role as a tight end, finished his 2019 season with a home run.
