Tucked away inside Michigan State’s Jenison Field House sits the office of Jake Barreau, Spartans' assistant volleyball coach. Sometimes, as Barreau sits at his desk handling recruiting matters, he can hear the sounds of spiked volleyballs and squeaking shoes coming from one story above him, where MSU’s men’s club team practices.
It’s in those moments when Barreau, who was hired in February and works primarily with the Spartans’ liberos, feels his coaching journey has come full circle. A two-time Big Ten men’s volleyball defensive player of the year while at Wisconsin from 2009-13, Barreau’s favorite road trips with the Badgers came when they traveled to East Lansing.
