How Michigan State has fared after a bye week during Mark Dantonio era

EAST LANSING - After a month of preseason practice, Michigan State played two games and will now sit a week.

The No. 25 Spartans (1-1) are coming off a 16-13 loss at Arizona State on Saturday and have a bye this week before playing at Indiana on Sept. 22 (7:30 p.m., BTN) to open Big Ten play.

"You know, you always sort of take it as it comes," Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio said Tuesday of the timing of the bye.

This is the second year in a row the Spartans' bye came two games into the season.
