EAST LANSING — Mel Tucker stopped practice and all of Michigan Statefootball team’s eyes turned toward him, a year to the day from going through the same motions.
On Aug. 11, 2020, four days into his first workouts with his new program, Tucker delivered the news of the Big Ten’s postponement of the 2020 season to his players, midway through practice. The decision put his debut into limbo for a month before the conference opted to play an abbreviated fall schedule.
Wednesday morning, Tucker again brought everything to a halt. He raised his already-raspy voice, this time out of a more mundane frustration.
