EAST LANSING - Mel Tucker sees his Michigan State football team as a “meat-and-potatoes outfit.”

The second-year Spartan coach used the phrase during his weekly press conference on Tuesday as a way to downplay how much swagger the Spartans are playing with so far this season. But after MSU’s impressive performance in Miami on Saturday and Tucker’s post-game comments about taking the Hurricanes into the “deep water,” it’s easy to see they’re playing with a lot of confidence.
