Larry Nassar was a doctor at Michigan State University for decades before his pattern of abusing his patients during medical appointments was uncovered.
His exploitation of faulty university policies and the way he wielded his fame in the national gymnastics community likely contributed to his ability to go undetected for so long, a state House inquiry has found.
The House members tasked with investigating the university's involvement in the Nassar scandal, led by state Reps. Klint Kesto and Kim LaSata, released a six-page letter Thursday afternoon detailing how gaps in MSU's policies allowed Nassar to exploit the power he held over patients.
