New volleyball coach Leah Johnson and softball coach Sharonda McDonald-Kelley took different, yet equally circuitous paths to Michigan State. Adam Nightingale returned to his alma mater to land his first head coaching job in college hockey.
Alan Haller spent the past few months filling coaching vacancies with up-and-comers with varying levels of experience. And the school’s first-year athletic director feels he brought on new coaches — with Jadun the youngest at 28 and Nightingale the oldest at just 42 — who bring renewed vitality to revive four dormant programs, and fit Haller’s vision for MSU sports.
