Alyssa Garvelink received the Most Valuable Player award from the Michigan State volleyball team during an awards ceremony Sunday.
The junior, a Holland Christian High School graduate, was also named the team's Playmaker Award.
The 6-foot-4 Garvelink was a second team AVCA All-American and first team All-Big Ten selection. She averaged 1.40 blocks per set and ranked seventh in a single season at MSU, while her 145 block assists was fifth and her 160 total blocks sixth in the Spartan single-season annals.
Garvelink also ranked fourth in the Big Ten in total blocks and third in blocks per set (19th nationally), while also ranking seventh in the conference with a .
