This past weekend went better than expected for the Michigan State Spartans hockey team, as they were not swept off the ice by the 5th ranked Michigan Wolverines. There was a time when a series split (including a a loss at Munn Arena meaning a season sweep to your arch-rivals) was not a cause for massive celebration. However, when you are mired in a season with massive winless streaks, and a 7-19-2 record you take happiness where you can find it. The Spartans played possibly their best game of the season in a 3-2 overtime victory Friday night at Joe Louis Arena, before being mostly over-matched in a 4-1 home loss Saturday.
