Roster attrition isn't anything new in college football, especially when there's a coaching change.
Herm Edwards is just being a bit more blunt about his intentions.
Arizona State's new head coach has vowed to bring an NFL mentality to the college game, a premise that has been met with great skepticism, and criticism. Included in that plan: No roster spot is safe, and cuts are coming after the April 13 spring game.
"You're accountable to compete every day," Edwards told reporters. "You don't lose your scholarship, you lose the ability to play. It's always worked that way in football.
