Grinz on Green: Spartans Have Plenty to Play For in November

EAST LANSING, Mich. – After everything they’ve been through, the Michigan State Spartans still have November.

The cruel reality of MSU’s 2-6 start is being somewhat tempered by the knowledge of what it has accomplished in the 11th month of the season over the previous nine years.

Since Mark Dantonio took over as head coach in 2007, the Spartans are 24-7 in November. In 2010, ’11, ’13, ’14 and ’15, Michigan State was combined 17-2 coming down the homestretch with Big Ten or division championships and top-tier bowls in their sights.

Even in ’12, when five agonizingly close defeats put a bid to any bowl in jeopardy, the Spartans ended a two-game losing streak by beating Minnesota, 26-10, in the regular season finale on Nov.
